About Us

"Fun With a Purpose" is the mantra that guides our Cub Scout activities. Our Scouts and their families explore and discover community, fitness, service, outdors, friendship, creativity and more. We always do our best whether we are playing a game, building a Pinewood Derby car, performing a skit, helping our neighbors, or cooking a meal. Pack 256 serves Lower Paxton Township communiities near North Side Elementary School (Central Dauphin School District), Colonial Park, Colonial Crest, Devon Manor, Forest Hills and Centennial Acres. All youth in Kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome in Pack 256.

Cub Scout Pack 256 is proudly chartered by Faith Immanuel Presbyterian Church since 1963, Meetings are typically held at 1801 Colonial Road, Harrisburg PA 17112. We always enjoy having guests and sharing our Cub Scouting experiences.

2026-2027 Membership Update

It’s been great to see everyone through the summer. We hope you have had a pleasant time as well. It’s exciting to resume our regular Pack activities together in just a few weeks. Another awesome year awaits with camping, special guests, rain gutter regatta, pinewood derby, fishing, games, service, and more to enjoy.

To prepare for the new year, complete all the following by September 17.

Scouting America annual membership and optional Scout Life subscription, each family will renew annually via the Scouting America national website. Since each Scout’s membership renews on a different month, refer to email and text notifications prompting you to renew. Any questions on Scouting America membership renewal can be directed to Nick Zingone.
Annual Medical Record, dated after June 1, 2026 for ALL family members participating in Pack events. Complete Parts A, B1, and B2. We have already saved copies provided for Tuckahoe and twilight camps during the summer. (TIP: Keep a copy for yourself to update in the future, and take Part C to your next wellness exam in anticipation of the 2027 summer camp).

Annual Pack Dues, We have set realistic fundraising goals to cover most materials and supplies used to deliver the Cub Scout program in our Pack. Therefore we are not collecting any additional funds for Pack dues at this time. Therefore, every family should participate in the...
Popcorn and Nuts Fundraiser is happening now! Sign up for a shift during the two remaining sale dates. Take orders from friends, family and neighbors through the first week of October; get your order forms from Amber Carmo.
Handbooks are available and provided to all Scouts upon request. It’s filled with great resources on all the adventures for your rank. Contact Nick Zingone if you want a handbook for the current year’s rank.
Verify Scoutbook access by visiting advancements.scouting.org. There you can view all your Scout’s advancement history and log activities completed at home.
Invite a friend to check out Cub Scouts. Our joining night event on Thursday September 10 is for all current and future Pack 256 families to attend and get excited about the upcoming year! Activities for youth will be led by our Den Chiefs.

2026 - 2027 Budget Forecast

Pack 256 provides information transparently - and one important aspect of this approach is to be open about the budget of the Pack. Pack 256 is fortunate to be able to offset over 50% of the yearly cost of scouting (less camping) for each scout in our Pack. This is done by the generosity of our benefactors, parents and by strategic and purposeful fundraising. In addition - scouts have the ability to offset their expenses even further by participating in fundraising activities. The budget will be updated from time to time - so be sure to check back for updates. For 2026-2027, each Scout pays $85 for 12 months membership in Scouting America (the national organization) plus $40 to New Birth of Freedom Council. For certain events, such as camping, participants pay a set amount to offset event expenses like food or lodging. For 2026-2027, Pack 256 leadership has thoughfully planned our programming and set corresponding fundraising goals such that families will not need to contribute additional funds (dues) for general program support.
